The Gravywurst Farmers Market
Posted in

While investigating a possible homicide, the two aging detectives Tiger Cohen and Willy Fassbender, discover a dysfunctional market in the heart of cottage country.

This is The Gravywurst Farmers Market—a fictional market in New York State that bullies its vendors and deceives its customers. The market is a registered co-operative, but the directors believe they own it. They exclude from the market those with competing wares. They favour their friends and harass or exclude any vendors who challenge their authority. They manipulate policies, rules, and by-laws. Every attribute of the market is there to serve the directors.

The author cannot believe that the directors of a market in Muskoka—The Gravenhurst Farmers Market—have reacted so strongly to a fictional story, first banning the book and then expelling the author from the market (all in the same day). Where is their sense of humour?
